meet our social science fall intern

Hello, I'm Savannah (left) and that is Charles Huffington III (pictured above).

I'm an undergraduate student at New Jersey City University where I’m currently studying Women's and Gender Studies and Social Work. Usually at this point the question is asked: "what do you plan on doing with that”. There exists a diverse range of careers available to individuals with this sort of educational background. Some realms that currently resonate the most deeply with me include substance abuse and addiction treatment, mental illness, school social work and child protective services.  

In my academic pursuit, I am emphasizing the value of specializing in something that could give me access to having a meaningful effect in the real lives of individuals and groups. If I can make money in the process, then that would also be ideal. However, I reject the idea that collegiate—and professional—endeavors should be primarily inspired by a capitalistic attitude. 

Aside from being a student, I am also a mother, a model, a server, and an avid reader of contemporary fiction. I also fly a paraglider here and there. Can’t wait to learn more about consumer behaviors.
